Caged pigs to be set free

This is a hard news story i wrote in my first year of RMIT journalism about the banning of pregnant sow stalls in Tasmanian piggeries. Writing this story was the first time i got a taste of interviewing a subject who had a preconceived notion of what the story was going to be about. Consequently, i listened to a 20-minute lecture on the importance of balanced journalism (before I’d even asked my first question).

This is a blog to publish and archive my work as a journalist. I am currently a third year journalism student at RMIT, looking for a job and chasing stories on a daily basis. I’m also editor of the RMIT student magazine Catalyst. For more information about me and my interests, check out the ‘about’ section on this page.
